INDIANAPOLIS (11 March 2009)

The Indiana Agriculture Resource Council (IARC) will be at the Statehouse celebrating National Agriculture Week, Tuesday, March 17, 2009. The Indiana State FFA officers will present a proclamation from Governor Daniels declaring March 17 as Indiana Agriculture Day.

Ag Day is a nationwide effort organized by the Ag Council of America to recognize and celebrate the abundance provided by agriculture. Every year, producers, agricultural associations, corporations, universities, government agencies and countless others across America join together to recognize the contributions of agriculture.

The program will begin at 12:30 p.m., in the North Atrium of the Indiana State House, with a welcome from IARC Chairperson Sarah Ford. Also speaking will be Anne Hazlett, Director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture.

Food, provided courtesy of various Hoosier commodities, will be available for tasting. Representatives from the participating IARC member organizations, as well as Indiana agribusiness partners, will be on hand with current information about the exciting things happening in Indiana agriculture and its importance to the state's economy.

The Indiana Agriculture Resource Council is a partnership of 24 agricultural and commodity organizations, and state and federal agencies. The Council's mission is to develop an informed public with a positive image of modern agriculture. For more information about IARC, visit http://www.indag.org/.
