Farmers Care

Activity Sheets and Informational Handouts

Indiana Agriculture Resource Council created a portable exhibit and ‘tool-kit’ for your use at county fairs, Ag day events, etc. called “Farmers Care.” The exhibit is available for loan from your county extension office.  For a listing of county extension offices click here

The exhibit and tool kit materials will help you communicate to the public that farmers care about the welfare of their livestock. The messages are simple and concise and designed to help a statewide workforce of informed volunteers speak with one voice in support of Indiana agriculture. By focusing the “Farmers Care” message and echoing it across Indiana, agriculture can impact consumer opinion and awareness.

The Farmers Care toolbox includes:

  1. A complete tabletop display with the “Farmers Care” theme, focusing on farm animal welfare.
  2. A guide sheet with instructions on how to use the display; ideas about events where the display can be utilized, such as Ag Days, farm tours, classrooms, libraries, county fairs, etc.; and instructions/suggestions on making the display interactive with visitors.
  3. Talking points for those who would staff the display. This will include a list of frequently asked questions to help volunteers be prepared.
  4. A CD-rom and binder with reproducible masters for a general informational/educational handout, as well as species-specific handouts, to be distributed at the display.
  5. Materials for optional activities that can be used to make the display interactive for visitors.
  6. Response cards for display workers to provide feedback to IARC about visitors, events and general comments on the toolbox.
  7. A durable case for safely transporting materials without damage.
